The first month of the new year brings exciting news about the Free State Project's number one goal: Triggering the Move! Read all about it, and what early movers in New Hampshire are accomplishing and experiencing. Share with all your friends and help us finalize our goal! Please donate today! Let's Trigger the Move!
The Granite State has many great things to offer, but when it comes to crime, residents love to celebrate what the state lacks. New Hampshire is the 10th safest state in the nation, and the violent crime rate is half the national average. Still, some towns are especially idyllic and safe. Here are the ten safest cities in the state...

When we set out to create the video for our new “Trigger The Move” crowdfunding campaign, we interviewed nearly 20 liberty activists who’d relocated to New Hampshire as part of the Free State Project. Nowhere near all of the footage we shot made it into the final cut, but we wanted to share a few more examples of what FSP Early Movers are doing in their communities! It’s incredible to see all that’s being accomplished with just under 2,000 folks already here -- imagine when we get 20,000+ to make the move to NH!
As of this writing, the fundraising campaign has raised $12,555, donated by 126 people in 1 month. We are at 31% of $40,000 goal. Thank you to everyone who has donated. Your support is making this growth possible. To everyone else, we NEED YOUR SUPPORT now. Every little bit helps! Please make your most generous tax-deductible donation today!

Today's Concord Monitor, front page, above the fold:
“It’s a little bit like a Kickstarter model, right? Like, if 20,000 people say they’ll do it, then we’ll do it,” she said.
The first movers are making it easier for those who come after them. At least one Free Stater owns a real estate company, which he uses to help his fellow “porcupines,” as participants are nicknamed.
They also spring to action to help new movers unpack and get to know the area, and Gericke said there’s a buddy program that helps people find a mechanic or a doctor.
“Honestly, I’m glad it’s taken its time because people have laid a lot of groundwork. . . . Even though, yes, it’s taken over a decade, I think that it is actually going to benefit the movement as a whole,” she said.
Do events like this happen where you live? A panel discussion about foreign policy, moderated by John Stossel. From the Union Leader:
MANCHESTER — Are America’s actions overseas serving the country well? Have U.S. military interventions made the country more secure, at an acceptable cost — or have military actions proved too costly to American troops, the country’s principles and our financial future?
Christopher Sununu, who sits on the Executive Council, writes an op-ed about school choice in New Hampshire.
In New Hampshire, we see continued evidence of illogical behavior by the state. Our governor and her attorney general are seeking an injunction against the small town of Croydon, that has chosen to pay tuition for a tiny group of elementary students to attend a private school. The Croydon School District has seen fit to pay for five students to attend the Newport Montessori School, because it and the students’ parents have determined it is in the children’s best interest. That approach also happens to be less costly to Croydon taxpayers than the public school. However, the attorney general says that Croydon is violating the law, so now the town must raise money to fight the state in court.
We are making history! Now with less than 5% to go to securing the final signers--less than 1,000 liberty lovers!!!--NOW is the time to show your support for the Free State Project! Due to the slow rate of donations, we are exhausting our operating resources to fund the Facebook ads, and WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Laissez Faire Today discovers the Free State Project, and Chris Campbell writes a compelling article about the viability of being part of the most audacious mass migration movement for more liberty in the world. Join now.
And the freedom of mobility, we believe, is one freedom you should take full advantage of if you’re serious about living free in an unfree world. (Unless, of course, you’re satisfied with your current location and are comfortable with its future. Which is great.)
The “best” place in the world is subjective. It depends on the individual. No place on Earth is perfect. And there will always be trade-offs no matter where you go.
But, no matter where it is, having a group of like-minded people with you will always enrich the experience.
And today, with billions of people only a click away, it’s more possible than ever to find a “tribe” of like-minded folks…
And even get them all to relocate to the same place.
The Facebook advertising campaign is a smashing success! We gained another percentage point over the weekend, and the counter now stands at 18,865, 94.3% to our goal of 20,000 signers. While this is amazingly exciting, we can use YOUR support for our Trigger the Move fundraiser. Let's keep the momentum going!
Fundraising report as of this writing: $10,625 USD raised by 89 people in 22 days 27% of $40,000 goal.
Can't contribute financially? Help us get the word out by sharing and telling your friends! Come hear Edward Snowden speak at Liberty Forum starting on February 18, 2016 in downtown Manchester. Save the date for PorcFest, June 19-26, 2016.

Early movers Dr. Darren Tapp with Laura Bennett write about the Croydon school choice case:
Parents have found that Newport schools do not work for their children and thus wish to educate them elsewhere, including at private schools. The DoE’s injunction is not only robbing Croydon residents of their time and money, but it is — at its root— very opposed to the well-being of Croydon families since the injunction seeks to infringe on their right to make the best possible educational decisions for their children.

If you missed what was happening with Uber in Portsmouth (see here, here, and here), get up to speed with this short documentary clip created by Portsmouth independent filmmaker Zach Cusson, and featuring early mover and Free Uber founder Christopher David.
As seen on a pro-Uber supporter's sign at a council meeting last year, the issue boils down to: Let the rider be the decider.
Never before have we seen such growth! The counter now stands at 18,643, that's more than 93% to our 20,000 goal. At this rate, we will Trigger the Move sooner than anyone can imagine!
This acceleration is directly attributable to paid Facebook ads targeted to people who think like we do. For the first time, we are able to reach a huge new audience who might never before have heard of the Free State Project, but once they do, they love the concept. It was like that for me. I was disillusioned with national politics and disgusted with the burgeoning police state. I was seriously considering leaving the U.S. Then I discovered the Free State Project. The rest, as they say, is history.
Union Leader: Libertarian group Free State Project says it is nearing its goal to move to NH with 20,000 people
Writes the Union Leader, New Hampshire's largest newspaper:
"Free Staters at their core are libertarians who believe in individual freedom and choice and that less government serves freedom best."
The article discusses the "pay-it-forward" community, what early movers are working on, what the future might hold, and more.
As for New Hampshire, a presidential candidate’s performance is not the only measure of the success of libertarianism, Gericke said. The Free State Project is 90 percent [92%!!! Support our efforts] of the way to its goal of moving 20,000 libertarians into New Hampshire to become a powerful voting bloc and serve as a model for other states.
“We’ve seen bumper growth in the libertarian movement here,” Gericke said. “The trend in libertarianism is moving away from national politics with more of a focus on states with low taxes and a high quality of life. The idea is to build New Hampshire as a place where personal freedom and economic freedom works. Ultimately, we’d like to transport that notion to other states.”

Another 1% growth in signers in less than a week! We are now at 18,406 signers, or 92% of the way to our goal of 20,000. These amazing results are directly attributable to the Facebook ad campaigns targeted at a broad new audience of liberty lovers. People are seeking answers to the encroaching police state and the dismal nature of national politics.
The Free State Project offers a proven solution. We know that concentrating liberty activists in the state of New Hampshire has lead to the expansion of civil and economic liberties. We know that being in a community of like-minded people makes life better. Becoming a Free Stater and moving to New Hampshire means you have chosen a purpose-driven, principled life!
I have to stop and pinch myself! 1% signer growth in just 9 days? I'm dancing around the kitchen with my hands in the air like the Ron Paul "It's Happening!" gif.
And it IS happening! And it's about time. Thousands of early movers have been paving the way for this moment, and it's getting near. It's hard not to be excited!
How come the signer rate is accelerating now? For the past few months, we have been running targeted Facebook ad campaigns. This has resulted in 1-2% growth in signers per month, averaging up to 24 per DAY. We are now connecting directly to a new, large audience of pro-liberty people looking for answers. The Free State Project offers a proven solution.
The only thing holding us back is being able to spend more on ads to get more signers! We want to turn on the spigot!
A friend of the FSP, Seamus Casey, has built a new app to help activists track pending legislation. Here, for informational purposes only, are more details:
Are you a liberty lover wanting to become more active in the New Hampshire legislative process? If so, then there are two things you need to do:
1) become a Full or Lifetime member of the New Hampshire Liberty Alliance;
2) easily and quickly get involved by using GenCourtMobile.
What is the New Hampshire Liberty Alliance (NHLA)? The NHLA is a non-partisan coalition working to increase individual freedom in New Hampshire, primarily focusing on the bills and legislators in New Hampshire General Court (the state legislature).
What is GenCourtMobile (GCM)?
GCM is a mobile app that streamlines the process of tracking bills, committee hearings, legislator voting records, and more.
Not sure which bills to track, or how to track them?
Then simply subscribe to the bill topics you are most passionate about.
