President's Corner
Early-May, 2007
Message from the President: See the video here.
Welcome back to the early May addition of the President’s Corner, which is being filmed live from the Jefferson Memorial in Washington DC! I’ve come to our nation’s capital this morning to speak with the Reason Foundation who has invited me to make a presentation at their headquarters and for a meet-and-greet happy hour. The reason I selected the Jefferson Memorial is because Jefferson was one of my favorite Presidents. In today’s terms we would probably call Jefferson a classical liberal, but he was very libertarian in his thinking.
We have talked about PorcFest several times. One reason it is important for you to come to PorcFest is because the people who come to PorcFest have been more motivated to move to New Hampshire. That is really the goal of all of this - to get liberty lovers from all over the world to congregate in New Hampshire for the goal of creating a free state. A couple of FSP Participants have moved within the last month. One of them tells me he is the second FSP Participant ever. He came to Liberty Forum and found a job while he was there. Now he's moved from Missouri to Manchester! Another moved last weekend from Illinois. Welcome to both of you!
So what would you see at Porc Fest that would persuade you to move to New Hampshire? Without seeing New Hampshire first hand, you don't really get the whole picture. We can show you video, take pictures, and write about it, but there's no substitute for being there in person.
I've been in New Hampshire for the last couple of weeks and have seen first hand some of the things that have been reported on in various New Hampshire newspapers about the activities of various Free State Project Participants. In the last President's Corner, I mentioned the Union Leader and Concord Monitor reporting on contributions to the Ron Paul campaign which those newspapers cited as coming from Free State Project Participants.
Since then, there have been three more mentions of the Free State Project in the Concord Monitor. One related to people protesting a ruling on a tax evasion case. Another related to FSP Board Member Irena Goddard running for City Council. The third was an OpEd I wrote responding to all three, thanking them for covering all of that and explaining that the Free State Project doesn't take positions on issues, legislation, and candidates.
I've been interacting with many of those people in person and you can see all of that first hand, and
meet some of them yourself if you come to
PorcFest.
Please register at http://freestateproject.org/festival.
PorcFest
will be held June 18th to the 24th at the
Gunstock
Mountain Resort, which you saw in the last update.
Finally, we have a new Health Freedom Liaison . Welcome to Derek Williams . If you're interested in health freedom, feel free to email Derek and join the yahoo group .
That will about wrap it up. From DC, the belly of the beast as we sometimes think of it, standing in front of the Jefferson Memorial on this lovely day in May, I am signing off. Don't forget to register for Porc Fest!
