President's Corner
Late-April, 2007
Message from the President: See the video here.
Welcome to the President's Corner for
late April, live from Gunstock , where we'll have the 2007 Porcupine
Freedom Festival . It's in Gilford, NH, about a half hour north of
Concord. The dates are June 18-24 and we'd love for you to join us. Watch the video to take a little tour of the facility! (Note: there is some wind noise in the video - text below gives the important details)
Campsites are available in three varieties:
- Basic - $27 per night or $162 per week
- Water and Electric - $35 per night or $210 per week
- Water, Electric, and Sewer for RV's - $40 per night or $240 per week
Other facilities include clean shower and laundry facilities for campers, mini-golf, a lake with kayaking and paddle boats, playgrounds, a skate park, hiking trails, some buildings for our speakers and what not, a general store, and much more! It's a great facility for Porc Fest .
More information about Gunstock is available on their website . To make camping reservations, call Gunstock directly at 800-GUNSTOCK. Also, there are hotels nearby which can be found on the Gunstock website or at the Porc Fest lodging page .
You also need to register for Porc Fest itself and we have over 100 people registered already ! We want you to register so that we'll know how many people are coming, and so you can pre-pay for things like the BBQ, the cookoff, bus tours, and t-shirts, which are available at a discount if you pre-register. Please register today !
The FSP's main registration page to join the project has been updated and the participant database is being migrated to Drupal at long last. These behind the scenes changes will enable us to make more improvements to the FSP website soon, including project management functionality, and making it easier for you to tell us the most important thing which is when you moved (or are moving) to New Hampshire! Thanks to Louis for working on those changes.
On Sunday the 22nd, the Concord Monitor reported about Presidential Campaigns and indicated Ron Paul drew heavily from Free State Project supporters. They apparently know that and are telling the world. The Union Leader reported on the 19th that Ron Paul is in 2nd place among Republicans for reportable donations from New Hampshire. That means he's ahead of McCain, Giuliani, Hunter, and he's raised more from New Hampshire than Tancredo, Thompson, Brownback, Huckabee, and Gilmore all put together. According to the Monitor, that's because of Free State Project participants, so if anyone wonders if we have an effect, there it is.
Speaking of fundraising, last week I issued the President's Corner $100 challenge. The FSP bank balance is getting low. Last year we spent a lot making the First 1000 project a success and on the insanely popular New Hampshire Liberty Forum which I hope you were at. We'd like to produce a Liberty Forum DVD so those of you who weren't there can see what the Liberty Forum was all about. It'll include exclusive footage of John Stossel interviewing Dr. Sorens and myself! Also, we need to promote the Porcupine Freedom Festival via direct mail and cover some other Porc Fest expenses.
All that costs money and it'll either break the FSP, or it can break me! I'm giving you an opportunity to make sure the latter happens. If you'd rather see me broke than the FSP, write a check or donate online . Make your check out for $100 or more and mark it “President's Corner”. When 20 of those show up, I'll put in my check for $100, too! This has to be the worst paying President job in the world and you can make it even worse! Please donate online or mail a check to P.O. Box 1684, Keene, NH, 03431, so that we can make the Liberty Forum DVD and Porc Fest a success!
I look forward to seeing you all at Porc Fest. See you next time!
