President's Corner
Mid-April, 2007
Message from the President: See the video here .
Welcome back to the President’s Corner! It’s been a long time since I’ve done one. I’ve been busy and I apologize for that, but I’m back. This is the mid-April edition and I shot the video version from Anchorage, Alaska. It’s beautiful and I thought I would say hello to all of you from Anchorage.
For starters, coming up is the 2007 Porcupine Freedom Festival , June 18-24 in Gilford, New Hampshire at the Gunstock Mountain Resort. It’s gonna be a great time and I hope all of you can be there. You can learn more about it on the festival page . Register today !
We still need to pay for some things there. If any of you would like to help underwrite that event, which does cost the Free State Project some money, please send us a donation and in the memo field write ‘PorcFest donation’ and we’ll get it to the right place.
Speaking of events, the Liberty Forum in February was fantastic! It was very well received by everybody, so well that our attendance projections were blown through the roof! So many people came that we have to find a new venue next year, so that’s excellent news! Next year, Chris will be heading up the Liberty Forum effort. Irena did a fantastic job this year and Chris was on that team. He will be taking the lead next year, so thank you Chris! And if any of you have suggestions or ideas send them off to him at libertyforum@freestateproject.org .
We’ve had some changes of the guard. I'd like to thank those who are stepping out of various positions with the FSP: Bob, as Advertising Director, Morey from the Board and as Publicity Director, Sandy from the Board and as Secretary, and Nik from local groups and volunteer coordinator. And, thanks to several people stepping up to fill some of those roles. Welcome to Andrew, our new Local Groups leader, Carolyn, our new Director of Development, and welcome back Jean who was previously on the Board and Secretary and is resuming those roles! We still need to fill a couple of those vacancies. If you're interested in or have questions about publicity or advertising, please email Steve at scobb@freestateproject.org, and if you're interested in or have questions about volunteer coordinator, email me at president@freestateproject.org.
We do need to raise some more money for the FSP soon. The bank balance is getting low and we have some expenses coming up. I mentioned PorcFest already. We also would like to finish production of the Liberty Forum DVD, which will cost at least $1500, and we have some direct mail programs going on now which we could use some seed money for. So, this is a one-time only President’s Corner deal. I’m good for $100 if you are. If 20 of you send in checks for $100 that say ‘President’s Corner’, I’ll put mine in also! Donate via Pay Pal or send checks to the P.O. Box and I'll keep you posted on the progress. In the future you’ll also hear from Carolyn who will be handling raising money for the Free State Project so we can pay for all the things that bring people to New Hampshire and ultimately help us on our way towards our goal of more participants, more movers, and more liberty in New Hampshire.
