Free State Project to Host Freedom Festival at Gunstock
The Free State Project, one of the largest pro-liberty organizations in the country, will be hosting their annual Freedom Festival (aka "PorcFest") in New Hampshire June 9-15, to showcase the FSP and NH and to entice thousands to relocate.
The purpose of the Free State Project is to recruit 20,000 pro-liberty activists to move to the Granite State. After relocating, they will work toward the creation of a society in which the maximum role of government is the protection of life, liberty, and property. So far, more than 8,300 have signed up and more than 1,000 will have moved to NH by the end of 2008.
Those who have already moved have been elected to state and local office; formed influential political activism organizations; created newspapers, radio, and television shows; started successful businesses; and have formed a vibrant community intent on preserving and promoting the Live Free or Die lifestyle of New Hampshire.
The purpose of PorcFest is multi-faceted. To accommodate the many out-of-state prospects, the festival showcases the successes, activism, and participants of the FSP along with the beauty and culture of New Hampshire. For those who have already moved, the festival provides the single largest opportunity of the year to relax, celebrate, brainstorm, and socialize with fellow FSP participants and lovers of liberty. As for NH natives, the festival is designed as a fun way to meet, challenge, and learn about the FSP and its diverse participants.
These goals are accomplished through bus tours around the state, group hikes, shooting range trips, team sports, outdoor concerts by local bands, vendor/exhibitor tables, pub nights, camping, a "meet the movers" panel, and a variety of other planned and spontaneous activities.
PorcFest is in its 5th year and has grown with each iteration. Last year's festival initiated the move from Lancaster to Gilford, added most of the aforementioned activities, and had record attendance. Press coverage of PorcFest 2007 can be found at www.PorcFest.com/press. This year's festival will introduce the outdoor concerts and begin the shift of PorcFest from an FSP-centric event into a festival that all New Hampshire citizens will enjoy.
