Create Content Procedure

Create Content Procedure

Create a Page

  1. Log in
  2. A user menu block will appear in the lower-left corner. Choose "create content".
  3. Choose type "page".
  4. Give the page a descriptive title
  5. Give the page a descriptive "Path alias" (what will be the URL). The first item in the path should be the name of the Center that the page belongs to, e.g. "/advertising/pagename" or "/events/pagename". Do not use capital letters!
  6. Assign categories, if appropriate: Centers, Issues, States, Strategies
  7. Enter your body content. Below the body field you can choose an edit mode if you don't like the HTML default. Note that the WYSIWYG editor link and the add-image icon are not very obvious.
  8. When you are finished, or have otherwise entered a lot of content, press Preview or Submit.
  9. Look at the page, and re-edit as necessary.
  10. When you are satisfied, enter Edit mode for the last time, uncheck the "In Moderation Queue" checkbox, and press Submit.

Edit a Page

  1. If you make a major change to a page, or otherwise want to avoid wiping out valuable existing content, click the "Create new revision" checkbox at the top right of a page as soon as you start editing.

Add an Image

Follow the instructions above for adding a Page, but for the content type choose "Image". Other differnces:

  1. Give the image a path alias beginning with "/images/", continuing with a descriptive name, and ending with an extension to describe the file type, e.g.
    /images/varrin_speaking_porcfest.jpg
  2. Be sure to choose a gallery in which to insert the image!

Add an Image to a Page

Instructions can be found at the bottom of this page: http://drupal.org/handbook/modules/image

We have two image respositories:
  • The Drupal Image module (clicking on the wysiwyg editors' camera icon or the photo+ icon under the text area will bring it up). The Drupal library is used for web site elements (e.g. icons, logos, merchandise).
  • Gallery 2, reachable by the g2 photo icon in the wysiwyg. Gallery is where some users will be allowed to post photos.
Our Image module automatically generates several standard image sizes:
  • thumbnail: 100
  • preview: 640
  • 240: 240
You can refer to them by inserting the name of the size in the image file name before the extension, e.g.:
/images/sdfsp9.240.jpg
is a 240-pixel-wide version of:
/images/sdfsp9.jpg Share this
