What's happening at the 2009 Porcupine Freedom Festival?
Schedule of Events: Thursday
8AM: Full-day rifleman training for attendees who have pre-registered with The Appleseed Project. (Dalton Gang Shooting Club; see map in bag.)
9AM-5PM: Guided bus tour to Merrimack Valley, including Concord and Manchester. See the sights and meet early movers at stops along the way. Enjoy traveling on the Porcupine Party Bus, owned and operated by Free Staters. Complimentary beer on bus! (Meet at 8:45AM in front of Roger’s Office.)
10AM–6PM: Registration Desk open. (Bingo Hall.)
10AM: Group Hike - Anarcho-Jesse O' Keene. Love the great outdoors? What better way to start the day than communing with nature? Join liberty activist Anarcho-Jesse (you've seen him in such movies as "Getting Arrested for Wearing a Hat," shot at Keene Courthouse, released February 2009) for a 2-3 hour hike through the beautiful White Mountains. Wear sturdy and comfortable shoes. Bring water, sunscreen, and bug spray. Hats optional, but recommended. (Meet at Registration Desk.)
10AM-Noon: PiMP My Activism Interactive Seminar - Mike Barskey. How will you perform when confronted by the police? You'll know once you practice. The goal of this role-playing seminar is to improve your activism by practicing tense, difficult scenarios with real-life input from fellow activists. (Picnic Hall.)
10AM-4PM: Swedish and deep tissue massages - Sista Golden Hair. Only $20 minumum suggested donation for half-an-hour of relaxation. Look for the campsite with the white balloons or inquire at the Registration Desk.
2PM-4PM: Here, Henna, Henna!: Learn How to Do Henna Tattoos - Denise Brown. Wear clothing that you don't mind getting messy (or bring plastic gloves if you want to make sure you don't get anything on your hands). You will be drawing designs on yourself, making up a batch of henna; and supplies and a handout will be available. $10 for everything including supplies; $5 if you just want to watch and receive a handout. Be sure to mention any allergies in advance. (TV Room.)
2PM-4PM: Grassroots Activism! - Join Reverend Ryan for a discussion on building coalitions in the NH State House, using partisanship to your advantage, and how successful grassroots activism won in the battle to legalize gay marriage in NH. (Picnic Hall.)

2PM-4PM: What's Up with States Rights? - Dan Itse. States rights are hot, hot, hot right now. Gain a better understanding about the 10th amendment and other states rights issues from leading expert and NH House Representative, Dan Itse. This past legislative period, Dan introduced HCR6, a contentious resolution affirming states rights based on Jeffersonian principles. He is the Political Director of the New Hampshire Liberty Alliance. Dan has written a commentary on the NH Constitution, and teaches the State Constitution and the US Constitution in schools and to civic groups. Come learn from the best, and arm yourself with knowledge. (TV Room.)
2PM-4PM: Campaign for Liberty - Allison Gibbs and others. Join Ron Paul’s Campaign for Liberty’s Outreach Director to learn more about their organization, their outreach plans, and their success stories. Bring your questions at this informal discussion. (Picnic Hall.)
2PM-6PM: Beep, Beep! Road Rally Icebreaker - Dan and Carol McGuire. Don't miss this treasure hunt on wheels! Teams consisting of 2 prospective movers and 2 locals will spend the afternoon following sometimes-nebulous clues to interesting spots in the Lancaster area. Get to know each other as you discover more about New Hampshire. This is not a race... Scoring is based on your accuracy in following the route and in getting the correct answers along the way. The cost is $5 for passengers; drivers ride free, and are given $15 for gas. (Meet at the Registration Desk.)
2PM-4PM: Kick-Ball Tournament. (Field.)

6PM-8PM: PorcFest One-pot Cook-off - Hosted by The Liberty Ladies. Register to dine with and judge your fellow Porcupines' cooking! Pay and pick up wristbands and ballots at the Registration Desk: $7.00 for ages 13 & up; $5.00 for ages 12 & under; kids under 3 eat free. Price includes dining and judging main-dish entries from cook-off contestants, salad and bread. Drinks and desserts will be on sale. Don't miss this hugely popular event! 10AM-2PM: Shooting Sharply! Whether you are an experienced shooter or a newbie, join expert gunman Pete Herrick and others for an exciting outing to the Dalton Shooting Range, located only 15 miles from Roger's in 400 wooded acres with great views of Mount Washington, Mount Lafayette and Cannon Mountain. Use of the range will be limited to .22 caliber and shotguns. If you can, bring your own. Loaners will also be available, and ammunition will be provided for a fee (to cover costs). Come learn safety rules and techniques, and, well, come have some blasting fun! Please note: No jacketed ammo allowed. (Dalton Shooting Range; see map in bag.)
10AM-Noon: Gimme an A for Agorism! Building a Free Market from the Ground Up - Alliance of the Libertarian Left. Join the activists of the Alliance of the Libertarian Left as they discuss the philosophy of agorism and the development of the “counter-economy” to undermine state control. Bring your questions and learn more about the revolutionary doctrine that advocates harnessing the power of the underground market to dismantle the power of authority. (Picnic Hall.)
10AM-Noon: 21st Century Preparedness - 7 Practical Tips for Disaster Readiness - Devin Standard. Mr. Standard is a defense industry executive, a Certified NRA pistol instructor, and an accomplished martial artist who has lived in six countries with his family, and survived a South American war. Join Pete Eyre, Jason Talley and Adam Mueller of Motorhome Diaries as they recap their travels and interactions with individuals and organizations on their quest to advance a voluntary society. 2PM-4PM: Off the Grid, On the Path - Jody Underwood and others. Come and discuss an evolving approach to interweaving sustainable gardening and livestock practices, self-sufficiency skills, energy conservation and production, self-discovery, and economic development as one path to freedom in the Free State. 2PM-6PM: Get Your Game Face On! - Renee and Ken Camille. Nothing wrong with a bit of friendly competition, right? Pit your talents at Scrabble, Cranium, Risk, and Cribbage against your fellow Porcupines at this fun afternoon event. Bring your bingo words, your brains, your brawn, and your best game face. 2PM-6PM: Porcupine Olympics! - Margot and Bradley Keyes - KIDZ! Saturday afternoon is all about Olympian Porcupinean fun! Join us at the field next to the Picnic Hall for long-jump, javelin, discus, shot put, races, and obstacle courses. This event is designed for kids ages 6+. (Field.)
2PM-4PM: Mini-Golf Tournament. (Golf Course.)
4PM-6PM: Ran and Won - Meet the Free State Project Reps! This is your chance to get the inside scoop on running for office in New Hampshire from the people who have campaigned successfully. (TV Room.)
4PM-6PM: Dance, Dance Revolution - Brian Hewson - KIDZ! Do you have the fastest, fanciest footwork at PorcFest? Put on your dancing shoes (or not) and put your feet to the test. Join us for an afternoon of Dance, Dance Revolution. Follow the pattern, listen to the beat, hear the rhythm, move your feet. Youths and adults welcome. 11AM-1PM: Bah-Humbug! Closing Ceremony: FSP President, Varrin Swearingen gives the "State of the FSP" speech and awards. Sam Dodson, a Free State Project activist who spent 40+ days in jail in mid-2009 for filming in the Keene courtroom lobby, will be the special closing speaker. (Picnic Hall.)
