Joining the activism in New Hampshire

Once you get to New Hampshire, it's important to connect with other liberty lovers at social events and to get involved in activism. You can find both at http://www.nhlibertycalendar.com/. You can also find those types of events at http://calendar.nhfree.com/ and http://calendar.nhliberty.org/. NHFree focuses on market based activism and NHLiberty on political activism.

Mystery of the Missing Movers

We've seen a large jump in movers lately, but there are still many people who have moved and not updated their address. Updating your address allows the "Already in New Hampshire" counter on the main FSP webpage to move forward, and helps us with recruiting future movers. Whether or not you think you're address is updated, send an e-mail to Moved@FreeStateProject.org to check.

2009 Liberty Forum

The 2009 Liberty Forum is coming fast! (And early bird pricing expires soon!)

The New Year is nearly upon us! As we hear about economic turmoil, goals of our new president, and continued battles for minimal government across the country, let's gather together and talk about liberty!

Come hear Dr. Mary Ruwart, author of Healing Our World in an Age of Aggression and 2008 Libertarian Presidential candidate.

Our Saturday Keynote Speaker is Richard "Dick" Heller who worked with attorneys of the Bill of Rights Foundation and successfully overturned the ban on handguns in Washington DC!

Don't miss our Education Track including John Taylor Gatto, Lisa Snell of Reason Foundation, Charlie Arlinghaus of The Josiah Barlett Center for Public Policy, and a panel on New Hampshire Homeschooling!

Help the Ridley Report Gain Viewers

The Ridley Report continues to gain more subscribers and become more popular. The Ridley Report now has more than 1500 subscribers and has been in the top 100 "most viewed" reporters on YouTube quite a few times in the last few weeks. In fact, the Ridley Report is only a few subscribers away from being in the top-100 most subscribed reporters of all time! If you haven't yet, please go over to http://www.youtube.com/user/RidleyReport and click "subscribe." Geting the award for being one of the top-subscribed reporters will help Ridley gain more views, which is good for liberty and good for the Free State Project.

Action of the Month - Porcers in Arms

No, not those kinds of arms. Boy, you 2A guys are always jumping the gun. :) I'm talking about the arm-in-arm kind of arms. Think more "1970's with flowers in your hair" rather than "1770's with muskets in your hands".

But with whose arms should we link? Whose elbows are worthy of our clasping? What other limbs are brave enough and strong enough to stand with us against the awful onslaught of an uncontrolled and rapacious government? There are quite a few. Some organizations may officially cold-shoulder us, as we often get their best people to join the fight for freedom in New Hampshire, while personally cheer us on and give us philosophical fist-bumps. One organization I think that is certainly more with us than agin'us is Bureaucrash. I don't know if you've heard about them or not, but their people always have the best stories. They "crash" statist gatherings and delight in showing the folly of the more feather-headed of that ilk. Sort-of like getting greenies to sign a petition against dihydrogen monoxide. They have an awesome collection of tee-shirts and other items for sale in their "contraband" section of their website.

Getting back to the arms thing, socially locking arms with these people can only be a win-win. They are most often young, smart, and willing to raise their arms in defense of liberty. Yes, their arms with hands attached. Not raised in some feeble sign of surrender or capitulation. Nor in narcissistic glee of hands raised high on the roller coaster as the FED plunges the value of the dollar ever lower. Their arms are raised in defiance of what academia tries to shovel into their heads on campus. Their arms are raised shining the light of free-minds and free-markets, often with a dose of humor thrown in for good measure. So be a good net-neighbor, and socialize with the folks at Bureaucrash. Let them know there's plenty of people in New Hampshire that think along their lines, that we need good people like them to join us, and that we're cheering them on from the Free State. Locking elbows for liberty, and not being the weakest link.

Merchandise

(If you don't know the tune for this song, consider yourself lucky :)

I want some Porcer merchandise for Christmas
Only Porcer merchandise will do
Don't want the Gore, no filthy Iraq war
I want some Porcer merchandise to handle and adore

I want some Porcer merchandise for Christmas
I don't think Ronald Paul will mind, do you?
You won't have to use a dirty congress tax
Just order from our web site,
then you sit back and relax.

I can see me on some Concord morning,
climbing up the stairs
Oh with my shirt and plushie porc
legislation to uncork
They'll see some Liberty in Our Lifetime.

I want some Porcer merchandise for Christmas
Keychains, bumperstickers, those will do
Yes Constitutions, yes for flying disces
I only like the Porcer Merchandises
And Lysander the Porc who likes me too

Mom says the Gov will eat me up, but then
Jason says a Porcer is a vegeterian.
...
There's lots of room for us in New Hamp-a-shire
We'll free us here and show 'em there, the whole world we'll inspire

I can see us now on any morning,
shining like the stars
Blazing freedom to their minds
Just like open-ing the blinds
and they will know the Porc is happ-e-ning

I want some Porcer merchandise for Christmas
Only Porcer merchandise will do
No higher taxes or socialisterisms
I only like NewHampshireFreederisms
And HampshireFreederisms like me too!

- Lots of neat stuff in the FSP Store - If you need something by the 25th, order it right away.

The Free State Project is an effort to recruit 20,000 liberty-loving people to move to New Hampshire. We are looking for neighborly, productive, tolerant folks from all walks of life, of all ages, creeds, and colors who agree to the political philosophy expressed in our Statement of Intent, that government exists at most to protect people's rights, and should neither provide for people nor punish them for activities that interfere with no one else. freestateproject.org
