1. Board member election
The Board agreed on a procedure to hold an election for the Board seat that has been vacant for more than two months:
1.1 Candidates
Board Chairwoman Irena Goddard will disseminate a request for candidates, with a submission deadline of April 6, 2010. On April 11th, the Board will announce the final list of candidates.
Per FSP bylaws, candidates must be FSP Participants.
1.2 Voters
In parallel, President Varrin Swearingen will disseminate a request for those desiring to vote. Voters are required to be an FSP participant and to have taken action to advance the Project's goals -- such as volunteering engaging in publicity-- within the last year (Mar 2009 - Mar 2010). Those desiring to vote should register by sending an e-mail to elections2010@freestateproject .org with the subject "Board Voter", by April 6, 2010.
1.3 On April 11th, the FSP will send the list of approved candidates to the eligible, registered voters and announce it on the FSP website. Eligible voters maybe vote by sending an email to elections2010@freestateproject .org with subject "Vote". Voting will close at 8pm EST Sunday April 18th. Only votes cast by registered, eligible voters will count.
2. Promotional FSP Magazine
The Board agreed with the President’s suggestion to produce a high-quality FSP magazine (just one issue) for promotional purposes. The budget would be about $10K, with an estimated cost per copy of $1. The deadline would be the beginning of summer, in time to distribute at various liberty events. A project manager needs to be identified.
3. Calling Program
The Board approved 5-0 the following
“The FSP will accept third-party participation submissions provided that the Participant takes action to confirm the SOI by e-mail or letter.”
4. Liberty Forum 2011
The 2011 Liberty Forum was discussed, in particular the need to find an organizer and select a keynote speaker.
