PorcFest is about bringing together people that are, in any shape or form, connected to the Free State Project. Whether you are simply curious, whether you are a friend of the FSP, whether you are a signer of the Statement of Intent, whether you are originally from New Hampshire, or whether you are have already moved, PorcFest is the place to meet, talk, plan, and enjoy life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness in the Live Free or Die state. Come on up!
New Hampshire was again named Most Livable State in the nation for 2007! For the fourth consecutive year, .New Hampshire was selected by Morgan Quitno Press as #1. “New Hampshire does an outstanding job in a number of quality of life areas,” said Scott Morgan, President of Morgan Quitno Press. “The state has the lowest crime and poverty rates in the country. In addition, the citizens of New Hampshire are employed, well educated and involved in their communities.”
Which state is healthiest? Morgan Quitno also just released its annual Healthiest State Award and New Hampshire came in 5th in this year's ranking. This 15th annual publication is based on 21 health-related factors.
Action of the Month - Act on the small things. We can't all be famous, or smart, or popular. The giants have trod before us, as they shall after we are gone. I may not be a giant, though I could be. You may not be a giant, though you could be. But while we aren't, let's not forget to do the small things. There are small things that giants can't do. It would be hard to sell as many books as Ayn Rand has, but it would be easy to buy a few copies and get them to those who might benefit. (Resisting the temptation to strike out Galt's Gulch and replace it with New Hampshire - or not) It would be difficult to think as deeply as Ludwig von Mises, but it would be simple to vote for freedom-loving, or at least -leaning, politicians. (See the NHLF report card. Sorry no help for the lower 49, I guess you'll have to move to New Hampshire) It would be maddening to try and figure out where in this world one can be freer, but it is pleasant to know that the Free State Project has already done the brain work for you.
So let's attend to the small things; registering for the PorcFest, showing up at local group meetings, and donating time, money and talent to help achieve Liberty in Our Lifetime. - Phil Denesch
Phil is also our Merchandise Coordinator - Well, pull my quills if we aren't out of the "FSP Don't Tread on Me" Flags! It's been less than a year that we've had these great flags - and we're sold out already. We were basically selling these at cost and if it wasn't for the wonderful generosity of porcupines like Steve Cobb, we'd never have had them at all. If you think we should get another batch then step forward. Make a donation to the flag fund (just make a donation and note it's for the investigatory prologue for vexillogical enhancement or you could just write Flag Fund) If there's sufficient interest, we'll place another order. But let's not loose sight of all the other wonderful products held within the nearly magical FSP Store! Hats and shirts and bumper stickers and flying discs and lanyards and mugs and super-fancy collectable Buck knives and key chains and pins and magnets and (let me catch my breath here) - well, you get the idea. Help us out, help spread the word, and help yourself to the great deals (especially on Previous PorcFest items - hey, you haven't forgotten to register, have you?)
Congratulations to Jean Alexander and Irena Goddard, our two newest Board Members of the Free State Project. Jean also returns to her former position as Secretary of the FSP. Further info about the election and the latest posted Board minutes are available.
FSP POSITIONS OPEN
The Free State Project has benefited from the efforts of hundreds of talented and dedicated volunteers since its founding in 2001. We have volunteers that have an idea and follow through to make it happen and we have people who take on more responsibility and leadership in the operational side. All are equally important to accomplishing the mission of the FSP. If you have an interest in making the FSP a success, please consider lending the organization a hand! Whatever your time and talent, your contributions are welcome.
There are positions in defined areas that are currently unfilled. We need some new hard-working Porcs in key areas - it's very rewarding! Please look over the FSP Organization Chart for some of the openings - also see the Help Wanted page. Thanks!
Free State Match #2: Simple & Sweet and Still Open
A simpler course of fire this time. No otherworldly scourges to take care of, just straightforward shooting. We'll use letter-sized targets downloaded from this page. Submit targets via email or snail-mail. Two categories (.22 rifle and pistol), and two runs (fast and slow). All details are on the FSP website! Have fun, be safe, and let's make the world unsafe for a certain few selected pieces of paper...
